About
This site has been created by Robert L Hughes (Bob). I have been in computer networking for 20+ years. In high school I started playing with computers (Apple II) and continued from there, including running a BBS (Bulletin Board System) from my house with four dial in lines in the late 1980’s. (on an Amiga with 32bit processor and ram!) I spent the first 4 years after HS in the USAF as a Medic (902). After I got Out I joined the Army National Guard and was in that for the next 11 years (active and reserve) rising to the rank of Infantry Platoon Sgt and Battalion Support Platoon Sgt. After I got Married in 1995 I did not want to leave home anymore so got out of the service in 1996. I started in computers for the Army NG as the Company Computer support sgt. (additional duty assignment). In 1992 I got into the industry professionally, being hired as a computer lab technician by Winton School District. After several years there I moved to the Merced County Office of Education as an Instructor, Computer Repair, Maintenance and Networking. While there I was invited to attend the Cisco Regional Academy Instructor training for Merced College with Bill Walls and Cary Yanagi from Merced College teaching the CCNA program. While still there I went to work full time for Delhi Unified School District as the Sr Network Engineer from there after two years they offered me the position of Director of Information Services which I held for the next 8 years.
I have over 14 years as a purchaser of systems (servers, switches, routers , computers, laptops, all-in-one, tablets, netbooks, projectors etc) and have a good understanding of what will fit what user or need. I have bought computers individually or in bulk purchases of hundreds.
