Mac vs PC
Mac vs PC
One of the perpetual arguments have been between Mac and PC fanatics. They each argue their respective merits and try to convince you which is better. Well I doubt this will put the argument to rest but here are my thoughts.
The argument revolves on which is best and this is too subjective to evaluate. I say
What are you going to do with it? For example.
If all you want do is browse the web and play web games on Facebook or watch movies online then almost any computer can fulfill your needs and you should probably get the cheapest one that will work for you for a long time. THERE is the problem.
- Do you buy the cheapest computer? If so it will be a cut rate box from a no-name company and as they always say, buyer beware.
- Do you buy the most powerful figuring that it will be able to run programs well in 5 or 6 years as well as now?
- Or do you look at the specific uses you need to determine what to buy.
Always look to the uses. The same as for any purchase, buy what you need, NOT what you want…unless you have money to burn.
Macintosh.
Macs are made by apple computers, they design the hardware from the ground up and put out all the software patches, they specify some of the best quality equipment to be put in their machines and they test the software extensively. If there is a problem, they FIX it before it gets to market hopefully. (or quickly after but it is ALL their problem)
PC
PC’s Hardware are designed by any one of 20+ companies, there may be only two main processor manufacturers but there are MANY motherboard and hardware companies. After All HP does not usually make the motherboard themselves, they contract it out. And if it is made to their standard then it should run MS Windows. BUT it is NOT their responsibility to determine this. Many times I have gotten the ….but that error is software NOT hardware so call Microsoft….
Macintosh
With the easiest interface to use and learn it is a pleasure to use and takes no exceptional instruction. I first bought my wife a mac 16 years ago and have bought her macs since. I have to answer about 1-2 questions a year.
Pc.
The PC is typically harder to learn, not to mention every version of windows seems to work in many ways differently.
Macintosh
Cost is a factor, they are generally 50-75% more expensive for identical CPU and RAM than windows. Mac has the lowest DOA rate of any major manufacturer. (Dead on Arrival, you unbox it and something doesn’t work)
Pc
Here is the main factor for PC, the low cost, if you have the tech skills you can put together an even more powerful machine at a far lower cost than for an equal mac or major brand PC.
Finally there is the most important thing. WHAT are you going to do?
Macs are used almost in the desktop publishing industry as well as photo-editing. PC’s can perform these functions but for many years the most avid users in these fields are Mac users so the software has often been customized for them. Video editing is also a big strength but PC’s have made wonderful strides to catch up in this field.
If you have no particular reason (desktop publishing, video editing, etc) to use MAC, use a PC instead and save money,
If you find yourself getting frustrated with windows or PC….Use a Mac, it’s FAR easier.
;-).
